Meet The Accountkeepers
We're putting over 40 years of combined accounting and finance experience to work for you.
While, you know, still being human.
CEO, Founder, & Chief Problem Solver
My inspiration to start The Accountkeepers came from seven, often exasperated, words I’ve heard many times as a Chief Financial Officer: “It’s hard to find a good bookkeeper!”. This, I have learned, is simply not true. What’s hard is understanding what a bookkeeper is, what your company really needs, and providing the right structure and support for a bookkeeper to thrive. As it turns out, most companies aren’t well suited to do this.
And why should they be?! Why should your business be an expert at accounting? Let us do that. Let your people spend their time on what matters to your firm, what you’re uniquely talented at, and let us take care of the books. We’re really, really good at it.
For more than a decade I’ve been a Chief Financial Officer, an entrepreneur, and an investment banker. Over that time, I’ve come to love bookkeepers. They’re the best! They keep us organized, and give us the financial data we need to make smart decisions. We at The Accountkeepers love them, and are excited to be at the forefront of a shift in the way companies manage their bookkeeping.
I'm excited to be part of this extraordinary team that focuses on accounting solutions for you! I bring over 30 years of accounting and finance experience in many business sectors—co-operatives, engineering & environmental development firms, non-profits, associations, law firms, start-ups, medical practices, and more. I specialize in being a central part of your accounting process; I like to really get to know your business so that you don't have to worry about getting things done. I care about my work and feel accomplished with a job well done!
One of the most fantastic things about The Accountkeepers is that we embrace the best in new accounting automation technology to make our work both efficient and enjoyable, but what I especially identify with is the people-centered philosophy. Let's face it, we can't automate everything, and so we're here for you when you need us.
A little insight into what makes me tick: my husband, 3 sons, 2 daughters, 7 grandchildren, and a very spoiled beagle hold the keys to my heart. We are an active group and gather for backyard sports every chance we get! I am originally from Buffalo, NY and a loyal Bills fan, spent some time in Chicago, thus a Cubs fan, and having lived in the Raleigh-Durham area for the last 20 years, my greatest sports following is with the NHL Carolina Hurricanes! I'm not just a sports nut; I also love to read, so if you know of a really stellar book, let me know!
I love bookkeeping! I love technology! I love The Accountkeepers! I have 17 years of accounting experience working with a vast array of companies; from small mom-and-pop shops to large corporations with thousands of employees to owning my own business. I've worked in roles from as simple as AP Clerk to as complex as Senior Accountant -- there isn't much that I haven't encountered and mastered.
Being part of The Accountkeepers team is fun and exciting. When I first started working in accounting, paperless was not a thing and the cloud did not exist. Accounting technology continues to evolve, and I love that I am evolving with it. It's exciting to work on many different projects, with many different people, in an environment that allows me the flexibility to be human.
When my mind isn't thinking about accounting, you will most likely find me watching sports and following my daughter's water polo games. It is very rare that there is anything other than sports on TV in my household, except for Ellen-of course, that's the exception. I do not have a favorite basketball, hockey, or baseball team but I am a die-hard Minnesota Vikings fan. Depressing, I know, but we will get that ring someday… someday!
I am happiest when I am contributing to the growth of innovative, mission-driven companies, which is why I am thrilled to be a part of this dynamic team. Prior to coming to The Accountkeepers, I developed a $1.4 million artisan bread business for a social enterprise bakery in Harlem, guided New York City's oldest food justice organization through an executive leadership transition, and helped an ESL training company that provides on-site English classes for the food industry to pilot its first online services.
In my ten years of experience I've developed an affinity for adapting quickly and embracing technology, but more importantly, I've developed a deep appreciation for the important role that bookkeepers play in keeping organizations healthy -- and respect for the smart people who fill those roles. My degree is in economics and I enjoy working with numbers almost as much as people, so I couldn't be happier to be contributing to a company that values both!
